Data Extractor User Guide
Data Extractor User Guide

The Station-based data extractor bundles segments of waveform data based on technologies, time range, geographic area and station names criteria specified in the Station-based Data Retrieval form . More information is available by clicking on the button next to the Technology field.
Once desired criteria are populated and the "Data Extractor" radio button is checked, clicking on the button will return a Data Request Review Form. This form allows users to refine the bundling criteria based on channel names, array data availabilities or inclusion of Station Metadata. An example is shown in Figure 1. Additional information is provided via popup tooltip.

Options for refining the bundling are described in Table 1.

Table 1: Description of options
Email : (optional) your Email address. If no email specified here, you will only be able to retrieve your data via Ticket Id.
Label : (optional) label associated with this bundle only for your convenience to identify the bundle.
Include : check the box to include Station Metadata such as the SITE table in CSS format.
Channels : all available channel names based on pre-given data searching criteria. You can uncheck unwanted channel names to remove associated data from the bundle.
check box column to let you select or deselect a station. If you update any check box, the read-only status on the right top of the table will automatically display how many stations are selected and an estimate of the total waveform bundle size. In the example shown in Figure 1, there are three items checked with estimated bundle size of 11500 KB.

Once you are satisfied with the options, clicking the button will return a Single Data Bundle Download page, which aslo displays the progress of bundling data. An example is shown in Figure 2. This page will automatically refresh every 10 seconds to retrieve latest bundling status, or you can click on the button to refresh the page manually.

Once the progress reaches 100%, a button will show up under the ACTION column shown in Figure 3. You can click on the button to download the data.

If the request includes a large amount of data, it can take several minutes or hours to bundle. You can write down the Ticket Id and use the Ticket Id to check the bundling status and download the bundle at a later time via the Download page. If you entered an Email address in the Data Request Review Form, you can also use that Email address to retrieve statuses for all bundles associated with that Email address via the Download page.
