Data Extractor User Guide
The Event-based data extractor bundles segments of waveform data based on events selected by 1) time range,
geographic area, magnitude and number of defining phase, or 2) a given event ORID or 3) a given origin time
and location specified in the Event-based Data Retrieval form . More information is available by clicking
on the
button next to the bulletin
sources list box.
Once desired criteria are populated and the "Data Extractor" radio button is checked, clicking on
the
button will return a Data Request Review Form. This form allows users to refine the bundling
criteria based on channel names, list of events, inclusion of Waveforms or Station Metadata, or how to
bundle events. An example is shown in Figure 1. Additional information is provided via popup tooltip.

Options for refining the bundling are described in Table 1.
Table 1: Description of options
| Email : |
(optional) your Email address. If no email specified here, you will only be able to retrieve your data
via Ticket Id.
|

check box column to let you select or deselect an event. If you update any check box,
the read-only status on the right top of the table will automatically display how many events are checked.
In the example shown in Figure 1, there are ten events checked.
|
| DELTA RANGE |
given epicenter distance range in degree for each event, default range is from zero to 180 degrees.
|
| BEFORE P |
waveform segment start time, given in seconds before the predicted P phase arrival, default is 30 seconds.
|
| AFTER S |
waveform segment end time, given in seconds after the predicted S phase arrival, default is 120 seconds.

Once you are satisfied with the options, clicking on the

button will
return a
Single Data Bundle Download page, which also displays the progress of bundling data.
An example is shown in Figure 2. This page will automatically refresh every 10 seconds to retrieve
latest bundling status, or you can click on the

button to refresh
the page manually.

other with 50% progress.
When the progress reaches 100%, a

button will show up under the ACTION column shown in Figure 3. You can click on the

button to download the data.

If the request includes a large amount of data, it can take several minutes or hours to bundle. You can write down
the Ticket Id and use the Ticket Id to check the bundling status and download the bundle at a later time via the
Download page. If you entered an Email address in the
Data Request Review Form,
you can also use that Email address to retrieve statuses for all bundles associated with that Email address via the
Download page.
